The company was founded by two brothers, George and William Penrose, in 1783. At the time, they were successful developers and the main exporters for the port city of Waterford. Although they were exporting to distant destinations across the globe and had gained popularity through out their region, the company was heavily taxed and lacked the investors to continue crystal production. <br />
It wasn't until 1947 that Waterford Crystal returned just down the road from their initial headquarters from a hundred years previous. Here, they used the inspired designs from a century earlier while duplicating the same standards for excellence.
